Management of pregnancy and delivery in women with congenital bleeding disorders- S Dunkley et al, HAA 2010
Women (and their babies) with inherited bleeding disorders are at risk of bleeding complications from haemostatic challenges during pregnancy and childbirth. Recently, Australian Haemophilia Centre Directors’ Organisation (AHCDO) developed and published guidelines for the management of pregnancy and delivery. Practical management issues will be discussed, including controversial issues surrounding prenatal diagnosis, the mode of delivery, DDAVP for VWD, obstetric anaesthesia, and the diagnosis and treatment of the newborn. A selection of case presentations will be used to highlight this discussion.
